Pneumatic Cylinder Actuator work by the pressure of the gas or the force generated by expansion, that is, the elastic energy of compressed air is converted into kinetic energy, also it is also known as Air Cylinder Actuator. Such as cylinder, pneumatic motor, steam engine, etc. Pneumatic cylinder actuator is a kind of power transmission, also an energy conversion device, which uses gas pressure to transfer energy.

Advantage

1. The Pneumatic Cylinder Actuator is simple in structure, portable and easy to install and maintain. Medium is air, which is not easy to burn compared with hydraulic medium, so it is safe to use.
2. The working medium is inexhaustible air and the air itself does not cost money. The exhaust treatment is simple, does not pollute the environment, and has low cost.
3. It is very easy to adjust the output force and working speed. The speed of cylinder is generally less than 1M/S, which is faster than that of hydraulic and electrical modes.
4. High reliability and long service life. The number of effective actions of electrical components is about one million times, while the life of general solenoid valves is more than 30 million times, and some valves with good quality are more than 200 million times.
5. By utilizing the compressibility of air, energy can be stored and centralized gas supply can be realized. It can release energy in a short time to obtain high-speed response in intermittent motion. Buffer can be achieved. It has strong adaptability to impact load and overload. Under certain conditions, the pneumatic cylinder actuator can be self-retaining.
6. Full pneumatic control has the ability of fire prevention, explosion proof and moisture proof. Compared with hydraulic mode, pneumatic mode can be used in high temperature situations.
7. Compressed air can be supplied centrally and transported remotely.

Shortcoming

1. Because of the compressibility of air, the action speed of cylinder is easily changed by the change of load. This defect can be overcome by gas-liquid linkage.
2. When the cylinder moves at low speed, the low-speed stability of the cylinder is worse than that of the hydraulic cylinder because the friction force accounts for a larger proportion of the thrust force.
3. Although in many applications, the output force of cylinder can meet the working requirements, but its output force is smaller than that of hydraulic cylinder.

Pneumatic technology is a professional technology that uses compressed air as medium to drive and control machinery. Because of its advantages of energy saving, pollution-free, high efficiency, low cost, safety and reliability, and simple structure, it is widely used in various machinery and production lines. In the past, the pneumatic system and its components on the production lines of automobiles and tractors were designed, manufactured and maintained by the factories themselves.

Maintenance

If a set of pneumatic cylinder actuator equipment is not properly maintained, then it will reduce the life of the equipment. If serious, the potential safety hazards caused by failure can not be underestimated. So how to maintain a set of pneumatic cylinder actuator equipment?
1. Guarantee the correct alternative air supply system: Inlet pressure at the tool inlet (non-air compressor outlet pressure) is generally 90PSIG (6.2Kg/cm^2), too high or too low will damage the performance and life of the tool. The intake must contain sufficient lubricating oil so that the pneumatic motor in the tool can be fully lubricated (a white paper can be placed at the exhaust of the tool to check for oil stains, which are normal for oil stains). Inlet air must be free of moisture. It is inappropriate to compress air without air dryer.
2. The parts of the tool can not be removed arbitrarily and then operated, except that the safety of the operator will be affected and the tool will be damaged.
3. If the tool fails slightly or fails to achieve its original function after use, it should not be used again, and should be checked immediately.
4. When using all kinds of tools, we must follow all kinds of safety regulations and instructions.
5. Choose appropriate tools to work. Too large tools can easily cause work damage and too small tools can easily cause tool damage.
6. Check and maintain tools regularly (about once a week), add butter to rotating parts such as bearings, and add oil to pneumatic motor parts.
